New Cross Live PresentsMarshall StacksNew York-based, Chicago-born guitarist Marshall Stacks is known for his fusion of mind-bending synthscapes and soaring hard rock riffs. His music merges hard rock and electronic music through free-form noise exploration and heavy metal songwriting. A retrospective Greatest Hits compilation of his music was released last year on Athens, Georgia label Primordial Void, compiling 14 years worth of material. His compositions range from explosive acid rock to high-definition new age, and have been described as sounding like ZZ Top on DMT or Soundgarden jamming it out with Terry Riley. She performs and releases music under the alias 'en creux' where sound creation springs from her interests and fascinations in the inherent noise floor within audio equipment. She uncovers and reveals such hidden noise via her manipulations with no-input feedback mixing. The volatile nature of feedback and the unpredictable glitch from the excessive energy generated within the equipment becomes her improvisational and compositional strategy.
