About this event

Baba Yaga's Hut Presents:   Merzbow, Cavalera & Bernocchi at IKLECTIK   Merzbow (?????) A vegan, straight edge noise project of Masami Akita from Japan. Merzbow started out in the noise industrial scene of early 1980s and began releasing music. In the 1990s, Merzbow were influenced by grind core and released an album on the death metal label Relapse. In the late 1990s, he resonated with Mego's "punk computer music" and were one of the first in Japanese Noise Scene to adopt a live performance technique using laptop computers.   Since around 2003, he has practiced veganism from the perspective of "animal rights." He creates works on themes such as "anti-whaling," "anti-dolphin fishing," "anti-fur," and "liberation of livestock animals." In recent years, he has been creating music that is not limited to digital or analog. Recently, he has been experimenting with incorporating AI into album artwork.   He has also collaborated with Balazs Pandi, Mats Gustafsson, Thurston Moore, Boris, Keiji Haino, Richard Pinhas (Heldon), Duenn, Nyantra, Lawrence English, Xiu Xiu, Gezan, Alessandro Cortini, Vanity Productions, Vatican Shadow, Bastard Noise, Meat Beat Manifesto and others.   Iggor Cavalera is a Brazilian musician. Along with older brother Max Cavalera, he is a founding member of the Brazilian thrash metal band Sepultura. Igor is now the drummer for Cavalera Conspiracy, Soulwax, Petbrick and other projects. Cavalera is one half of the DJ duo Mixhell, a project he founded with his wife, Laima Leyton, in 2006. Cavalera has been widely recognised as a notoriously hard-hitting heavy drummer throughout his career. Although drumming has been his main activity since the '80s, Iggor has always experimented with electronic instruments such as drum machines and synthesisers. He is also a music producer and experimental artist.   Eraldo Bernocchi is an Italian composer, arranger, producer and guitarist with a solid reputation as an all round sonic sculptor. Starting his career in the late 70's as a guitarist in independent punk bands, in the mid '80's Eraldo co-founded the conceptual audio project Sigillum-S (with Paolo Bandera and Luca di Giorgio), which grew into a highly acclaimed international cult act. In the 90's, together with the graphic designer and video artist Petulia Mattioli, Eraldo started to create a raft of notable audio visual projects and co-operations. A relentless sound explorer, he collaborated with numerous artists including Bill Laswell, Nils Petter Molvaer, Harold Budd , Russell Mills, Toshinori Kondo, Raiz and Almamegretta, DJ Disk, Thomas Fehlmann, Zu, DJ Olive, Markus Stockhausen, Giovanni Lindo Ferretti, Robin Guthrie, Colin Edwin, Balazs Pandi, Hoshiko Yamane, Flowdan among many others.   Album: https://p-a-n.bandcamp.com/album/nocturnal-rainforest
