About this event

Born and raised on Clare Island, off the rugged west coast of Ireland, Niall McCabe's music is shaped by the rhythms of the Atlantic, the warmth of fireside songs, and the echoes of generations past. Raised in a family-run pub where traditional Irish, folk, rock, and soul all blended into a single voice, McCabe developed a style that bridges past and present, tradition and evolution. With a voice that carries both the weight of history and the lightness of the open sea, McCabe has crafted a sound that is both timeless and deeply personal. His debut album, Rituals, earned widespread acclaim for its introspective songwriting and lush, folk-infused arrangements, solidifying his place as a singular voice in contemporary Irish music. McCabe's music is deeply influenced by both the traditional songs of his childhood and the modern folk and Americana movements. His ability to blend these worlds has led him to perform alongside Chris Isaak, Mary Black, Foy Vance, Ariel Posen, Beoga, and Sharon Shannon. In 2025, he took the stage with Transatlantic Sessions, joining a world-class ensemble of musicians including Julie Fowlis, Loudon Wainwright III, Larry Campbell, Teresa Williams, Phil Cunningham, John Doyle, and Michael McGoldrick. In March 2025, McCabe made his Grand Ole Opry debut, carrying the sound of Clare Island to one of the most legendary stages in the world. He also contributed to Notify's latest album, which was named Irish Times Trad Album of the Year, further cementing his reputation as an artist who both honors and pushes the boundaries of tradition. There's a quiet power in McCabe's music-a way of making the personal feel universal. His songs don't just tell stories; they invite listeners to see themselves within them. Whether performing in intimate folk clubs, festival stages, or historic venues, his voice remains honest, warm, and unshaken by time. 'A Sentimental Soulful Debut.' - HOTPRESS Magazine 'The weight of personal experience and reflection makes it a masterpiece, in the true sense of the word.' - Irish Music Magazine 'An incredibly talented singer-songwriter and his song 'Stonemason' is one of the best I've ever heard.' - Miriam O'Callaghan, RTE Radio 1
