About the venue: An expat pub and live music venue rated 4.3 from around 1,190 reviews, mid-priced, and listed as an event venue. Two things to settle in advance: reviewers repeatedly report a cover charge of around R$20 that is not mentioned until the bill arrives, and live bands play on many evenings, which would compete with conversation. Confirm both when booking.

Getting there: The venue is on Rua Visconde de Pirajá in Ipanema, four minutes' walk from General Osório metro on Line 1, which runs every few minutes and connects to Copacabana and the centre. Ipanema beach is a short walk in the other direction. The metro is the easier arrival than driving, and reviewers describe the station as feeling safe.
